Quick update to June’s update

Dear family & friends,

Since our last update we have not seen much progress in terms of getting our South African visas, probably mostly due to the World Cup and the huge amounts of people traveling there at the moment. So we have had to make a decision to apply to Harpenden, England to do the Documentary film making school, followed immediately by the Humanities school. The swiftness with which all this was arranged, and communication between all parties concerned was astounding! Within 24 hours of making the decision to go to Harpenden, everything fell quickly into place, including tickets bought etc. It was absolutely amazing, and such a confirmation from God that this was the right direction for us to be going in. The benefits of doing it this way is that I get all my lecture phases complete, leaving only a field assignment to do - which I can do more or less anywhere - and then my degree, a BA in Journalism: Mass Media, is finally finished.

Of course we are very sad to not be going to South Africa as we had planned to be able to see many friends and family and catch up with them in person. We were also excited about taking the kids to Africa - their roots - for the first time. However, we still plan to go to Nigeria at the start of next year as a family. (There have been security issues in Nigeria so we will keep an eye on that as we move forward in plans for this trip. ) We will need to leave for Nigeria right before or at the start of January. So we will begin the process of applying for Visas for that sometime soon too.

The next few months should be good as we get into the schools. I will be particularly busy with my two schools - its a full on schedule starting at 7am!! and Aleck will be booking speakers and setting up the school of Design in Nigeria along with some of the Nigerian staff and friends who will be working there with him, s well as homeschooling Mya and being primary care-giver of the kids.

At the moment, our current monthly support should cover almost all of the school fees. We are trusting God for a further £200 (US$300) extra each month:

£150 per month to cover outstanding school fees

£15 per month for Mya’s schooling resources (we don’t have space in our luggage allowance to take this kind of thing over with us.)

£35 per month local travel expenses

Over and above this we will need £90 per person for our Nigerian visas.

We would also greatly appreciate your prayers as we go into this next season. Also, if you would like to give towards our monthly needs in supporting us in our ministry and equipping for ministry, then please do get in touch. If we have just ten people giving as little as £20 a month we will have enough to cover our projected budget. Thank you so much for your support so far into our combined 30 years in missions. Aleck and I just celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary this week. We are as excited about the future as ever and as we get very busy again, we are looking forward to seeing what God has in store. We have a few different options for long-term involvement as we round out this year and will share more as things develop. Already we have more clarity than we have had as we enter the second half of this sabbatical year.
